Discover Burnie

Federation Walks 1 & 2

Burnie has two new Federation walks, one of the city's architecture, the other of nearby domestic architecture, each taking from 25 minutes to walk.

The domestic houses adjacent to the city show the style and wealth that came to Burnie with the mining boom and Federation.

The city walk features eleven Tasmanian Heritage Listed buildings that show an interesting variety of architectural styles from the Federation period.

The houses and buildings are clearly numbered on the brochure maps, so you can join the walks at any point, or you can start and finish at the Crest near the Burnie Regional Museum where you have the opportunity to see interiors of the time in authentic detail.

Federation Walk 1 (domestic architecture) and Federation Walk 2 (city architecture) brochures are available from the Museum and the Makers' Workshop at 2 Bass Highway.
