Overnight area for fully self-contained vehicles

Burnie City Council provides a short-stay free overnight opportunity for fully self-contained vehicles at Cooee Point some 2.5km west of the city centre.  This allows travellers an opportunity to become acquainted with the city’s offerings before moving on or making alternate overnight arrangements.

A maximum period of 2 consecutive nights applies

A maximum of two permits will be issued for a vehicle in any one calendar year. A permit cannot be extended or renewed. Permits must be displayed in the windscreen or on the exterior of the vehicle at all times a vehicle is on the site.

What is a fully self-contained motorhome, campervan or caravan?

Self-contained vehicle means shower, washing, toilet, cooking and sleeping must be contained within your vehicle.  No water is to be let out onto the ground, surrounding bushes or the sea.

For full terms and conditions visit Burnie City Council website

A liquid waste discharge point and a water supply point is provided within the vicinity.

Camping on Cooee Point, in a tent, in a vehicle which does not have its own water supply, washing and toilet facilities, and a waste water tank, or with a dog, is NOT permitted.
